     Thomas Butler Stoney was born on 27 February 1844.1 He was the son of James Stoney and Mary Frances Elwood.1 He married Annie Olphert, daughter of Wybrands Olphert, on 11 June 1873.1 He died on 5 March 1912 at age 68.1
     Thomas Butler Stoney gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Donegal Artillery Militia.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Donegal in 1887.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Donegal.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Donegal.1 He lived at Oakfield Park, Raphoe, County Donegal, Ireland.1
