Lucy Cavanagh is the daughter of Colonel Charles Cavanagh.1 She married, firstly, Sir Lawrence Esmonde, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Thomas Esmonde, 1st Bt. and Ellice Fitzgerald.1 She married, secondly, Colonel Hon. Richard Butler, son of Edward Butler, 2nd Viscount of Galmoye and Eleanor Whyte, circa 1691 at IrelandG.1,2

Colonel Hon. Richard Butler is the son of Edward Butler, 2nd Viscount of Galmoye and Eleanor Whyte.2 He married Lucy Cavanagh, daughter of Colonel Charles Cavanagh, circa 1691 at IrelandG.1,3
He went with the King to France.3 He spent 18 months in Newgate prison (said to be enlisting men in Ireland for French service.)3 He was a member of King James II's Bodyguard.3 He lived at Galmoy, IrelandG.1

Rt. Hon. Sir Laurence Esmonde, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir Lawrence Esmonde, 2nd Bt. and Lucia Butler.2 He married Jane Lucy Forde, daughter of Matthew Forde and Margaret Hamilton, in 1703.1 He was also reported to have been married in 1695.3 He died in 1720.1
He gained the rank of officer in the French Army.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Esmonde, of Ballynastragh, co. Wexford [I., 1629] before 22 October 1688.1
