Piers Butler, 4th Baron Caher was the son of Edmund Butler and Eleanor Butler.1 He married Elizabeth Mathew, daughter of Theobald Mathew and Margaret Browne, in 1663.2 He died on 30 January 1676/77 at Ireland, after a 'surfeit of claret', without male issue.2 He was buried on 1 February 1676/77 at Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland.2

Sir Thomas Esmonde, 1st Bt. was the son of Laurence Esmond, 1st and last Lord Esmond, Baron of Lymbrick and unknown O'Flaherty.2,3 He married, secondly, Lady Joane Butler, daughter of Walter Butler, 11th Earl of Ormonde.4 He married, firstly, Ellice Fitzgerald, daughter of Sir John Fitzgerald, circa 19 March 1629 in a unlicenced marriage.3 He died in 1674.3
Sir Thomas Esmonde, 1st Bt. was invested as a Knight in 1628.3 He was created 1st Baronet Esmonde, of Ballynastragh, co. Wexford [Ireland] on 28 January 1628/29.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Enniscorthy, County Wexford from 1641 to 1642.3 He gained the rank of General of Horse in the service of the Royalist Army.3

Thomas Butler, 3rd Baron Caher was the son of Piers Butler and Ellenor Butler.1 He married Ellinor Power, daughter of John 'Og' Power and Helen Barry, in February 1624/25.1 He died before 1648.1
