     Major William Caldbeck Roper-Caldbeck was born on 28 January 1855.1 He was the son of Thomas Roper and Dora Caldbeck.2 He married Alice Mary Young, daughter of Jasper Young and Julia C. (?), on 1 December 1898 at Kensington, London, EnglandG.1,3 He died on 26 December 1936 at age 81.1
     He was given the name of William Caldbeck Roper at birth.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1896 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He fought in the Boer War.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He gained the rank of officer in the 5th Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers.1 He lived at Moyle Park, Clondalkin, County Dublin, IrelandG.4
