     Sir Michael Wellington Stapleton-Cotton, 5th Viscount Combermere of Bhurtpore was born on 8 August 1929.1 He is the son of Sir Francis Lynch Wellington Stapleton-Cotton, 4th Viscount Combermere of Bhurtpore and Constance Marie Katherine Drummond.2 He married Pamela Elizabeth Coulson, daughter of Reverend Robert Gustavus Coulson, on 4 February 1961.1 He died on 3 November 2000 at age 71.1
     Sir Michael Wellington Stapleton-Cotton, 5th Viscount Combermere of Bhurtpore was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.3 He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in 1947 in the service of the Royal Air Force Reserve.1 He was with the Palestine Police between 1947 and 1948.3 He was with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police between 1948 and 1949.3 He was a short service commission general duties pilot with the Royal Air Force between 1950 and 1958.3 He was a sales representative for Teleflex Products Ltd between 1959 and 1962.3 He graduated from King's College London, London, England, in 1965 with a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.).1 He graduated from King's College London, London, England, in 1967 with a Master of Theology (M.Th.).3 He succeeded to the title of 5th Viscount Combermere of Bhurtpore [U.K., 1827] on 8 February 1969.1 He succeeded to the title of 5th Baron Combermere, of Combermere, co.
