Sir John Andrew Cathcart, 5th Bt. was born on 18 February 1810.1 He was the son of Hugh Cathcart and Caroline Montgomery.1 He married Hannah Eleanor Kennedy, daughter of Archibald Kennedy, Earl of Cassillis and Eleanor Allardyce, on 5 July 1836 at Ailsa House, Privy gardens, Whitehall, London, England.1 He died on 25 March 1878 at age 68 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1
Sir John Andrew Cathcart, 5th Bt. succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Cathcart, of Carleton, co. Ayr [N.S., 1704] in 1828.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 2nd Life Guards.1
