     Andrew Coats was born on 22 June 1814.1 He was the son of James Coats and Catherine Mitchell.2 He married Agnes Hamilton Stirling, daughter of James Stirling of Dalquhurn and Cordale, on 1 June 1854.1 He died on 10 February 1900 at age 85.1
     Andrew Coats held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He lived at Pitcullen House, Perthshire, Scotland.1

     Agnes Hamilton Stirling was the daughter of James Stirling of Dalquhurn and Cordale.2 She married Andrew Coats, son of James Coats and Catherine Mitchell, on 1 June 1854.1 She died in 1906.1

     Sir James Coats, 1st Bt. was born on 12 April 1834.1 He was the son of Sir Peter Coats and Gloranna McKenzie.2 He married, firstly, Sarah Ann Auchincloss, daughter of John Auchincloss, on 15 October 1857.1 He married, secondly, Marie Jeanne Augustine Adam, daughter of Charles Henri Adam, on 19 September 1889.1 He died on 20 January 1913 at age 78.1
     Sir James Coats, 1st Bt. was a senior director of J. & P. Coats.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Ayrshire.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 2nd Battalion, Renfrewshire Rifles (Volunteers).1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Renfrewshire.1 He was created 1st Baronet Coats, of Auchendrane, Ayrshire [U.K.] on 7 December 1905.1
