     James FitzThomas FitzGerald, 8th Earl of Desmond was born circa 1459.1 He was the son of Thomas FitzJames FitzGerald, 7th Earl of Desmond and Ellice Barry.1 He married Margaret O'Brien, daughter of Turlogh O'Brien, Prince of Thomond, before 1487. He died on 7 December 1487.1

     Margaret O'Brien was the daughter of Turlogh O'Brien, Prince of Thomond.1 She married James FitzThomas FitzGerald, 8th Earl of Desmond, son of Thomas FitzJames FitzGerald, 7th Earl of Desmond and Ellice Barry, before 1487.
     Her married name became FitzGerald.1

     Edmund Butler, 2nd Baron Caher was the son of Thomas Butler, 1st Baron Caher and Eleanor Butler.1 He married unknown daughter FitzGerald, daughter of James FitzJohn FitzGerald, 13th Earl of Desmond.1 He died in 1560, without issue.1
     He joined the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, Earl of Susex, in an expedition agianst Limerick.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Caher, co. Tipperary [I., 1543] in 1558.1
     On his death, his barony fell into abeyance between his two aunts.1

     8th Whitt Knight.2 He was also known as Maurice FitzMaurice.2 In 1543 living (Exchequer Inquisition 34 ELIZ I and 18 JAMES I).2
