Dorcas Young was born on 16 September 1832 at Pitcairn Island.1 She was the daughter of William Young and Elizabeth Mills.1 She married Thomas Buffett, son of John Buffett and Dorothy Young, on 25 May 1875 at Norfolk Island.1 She died on 3 December 1917 at age 85 at Norfolk Island.1
From 25 May 1875, her married name became Buffett.1 She was one of the 14 women who invited Admiral Moresby to visit Pitcairn in 1851. Jane Nobbs referred to her in 1861 as her best friend, and that 'She has become such a good, kindhearted woman that she is everyone's favorite ... (everyone) sends to her for help.1'
