Ruth Quintal1

     Ruth Quintal was born on 8 May 1829 at Pitcairn IslandG.1 She was the daughter of Arthur Quintal and Catherine McCoy.1 She married Samuel McCoy, son of Daniel McCoy and Sarah Quintal, on 19 September 1858 at Norfolk IslandG.1 She died on 29 September 1862 at age 33 at Norfolk IslandG.1
     In 1851 she was one of the 14 women who invited Admiral Moresby to visit Pitcairn.1 From 19 September 1858, her married name became McCoy.1

Daniel McCoy1

     Daniel McCoy was born on 28 December 1832 at Pitcairn IslandG.1 He was the son of Daniel McCoy and Sarah Quintal.1 He married Lydia Young, daughter of William Young and Elizabeth Mills, on 24 March 1850 at Pitcairn IslandG.1 He died on 7 April 1855 at age 22 at Pitcairn IslandG.1
     Daniel and Lydia went alone to an isolated spot that could be reached only by swimming a narrow passage, or by climbing a few steps, then descending a very dangerous path among the rocks. They chose the latter, and Daniel lost his hold, slipped, and fell. The fall was not high, scarcely 10 feet, but he landed hard and broke his back. With one dreadful groan, he died instantly.      Lydia Young was born on 16 September 1832 at Pitcairn IslandG.1 She was the daughter of William Young and Elizabeth Mills.1 She married, firstly, Daniel McCoy, son of Daniel McCoy and Sarah Quintal, on 24 March 1850 at Pitcairn IslandG.1 She married, secondly, Robert Pitcairn Buffett, son of John Buffett and Dorothy Young, on 7 December 1862 at Norfolk IslandG.1 She was buried on 30 July 1883 at Pitcairn IslandG, from asthma and dropsy.1
     From 24 March 1850, her married name became McCoy.1 From 7 December 1862, her married name became Buffett.1 She was among the 2nd wave of returnees from Norfolk in
1864.1

     From 1816, her married name became Quintal.2
