     Sir George Joseph Palmer, 3rd Bt. was baptised with the name of George Joseph Hudson.³ He gained the title of 3rd Baronet Smith, of Wanlip Hall, co. Leicester.⁴ On 13 November 1813 his name was legally changed to George Joseph Palmer.³ He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Hudson, of Wanlip Hall, co. Leicester [G.B., 1791] on 30 April 1827.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Leicestershire.¹

     Emily Elizabeth Holford is the daughter of George Peter Holford.² She married Sir George Joseph Palmer, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Charles Thomas Palmer, 2nd Bt. and Harriot Pepperell, on 26 February 1836.¹ She died on 6 October 1871.¹
     From 26 February 1836, her married name became Palmer.

     Rt. Hon. James Tomkinson was born in 1840.² He married Emily Francis Palmer, daughter of Sir George Joseph Palmer, 3rd Bt. and Emily Elizabeth Holford, on 12 December 1871.¹ He died on 10 April 1910.³
     Rt. Hon. James Tomkinson held the office of High Sheriff of Chester in 1887.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Crewe between 1900 and 1910.² He lived at Willington Hall, Tarporley, Cheshire, England.¹ He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.).¹
