     He was educated at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.² He emigrated to New Zealand arriving on 1859 on board the Joseph Fletcher.² He held the office of Judge of the Native Land Court of New Zealand.¹ He lived in 1891 at St. John's, Wanganui, New Zealand.¹

     Rosetta Johnston was born in 1847 at Raoraokauere, Aotea, Raglan, New Zealand.¹ She was the daughter of William Johnston and Mereaina Te Rapopo.¹ She married Herbert William Brabant, son of William Hughes Brabant and Emillia Stainforth, in 1868 at New Zealand.¹ She died on 1 March 1911 at Lighthouse Road, Napier, New Zealand.¹ She was buried at Old Cemetery, Napier, New Zealand.¹
