Sir Stair Agnew of Lochnaw, 6th Bt. was born on 9 October 1734.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Sir Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, 5th Bt. and Eleanora Agnew.1 He married, firstly, Marie Baillie, daughter of Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet and Isabel Walker, before 1769.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Naesmyth, daughter of Thomas Naesmyth, on 11 April 1775.1 He died on 28 June 1809 at age 74.1
