     Lt.-Col. Andrew Agnew, 9th of Croach was born circa 1665.2 He was the son of Alexander Agnew, 8th of Croach and Sarah Dunbar.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Agnew, daughter of Sir James Agnew of Lochnaw, 4th Bt. and Lady Mary Montgomerie, in 1700.1,2 He married, secondly, Agnes Kennedy, daughter of Sir Thomas Kennedy, on 28 February 1705 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1,2 He died after 1730.1
     Lt.-Col. Andrew Agnew, 9th of Croach gained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the service of the Royal Scots Dragoons.1 He built Lochryan House.1 He lived at Lochryan House, Wigtownshire, Scotland.2
