     James Sewell Neville was born in 1827.1 He was the son of Reverend John Neville White and Charlotte Sewell.1 He married Emelyn Anna Stogdon in 1862.1 He died in 1912.1
     He was given the name of James Sewell White at birth.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1849 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1852 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.1 He held the office of Advocate-General [Bombay] between 1869 and 1872.1 He held the office of Judge of the High Court of Calcutta between 1876 and 1882.1 In 1885 his name was legally changed to James Sewell Neville by Royal Licence, on inheriting the Sloley property.1 He lived at Sloley Hall, Norfolk, England.1
