     Admiral Sir Charles Elliot was born on 15 August 1801 at Dresden, Germany.2,3 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Hugh Elliot and Margaret Jones.2 He married Clara Genevieve Windsor, daughter of Robert Harley Windsor, in 1828.2 He died on 9 September 1875 at age 74.2
     He was commissioned in 1815 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Navy.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1822.3 He gained the rank of Captain in 1828.3 He held the office of Governor of Bermuda between 1846 and 1854.3 He held the office of Governor of Trinidad between 1854 and 1856.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1856.1 He held the office of Governor of St. Helena between 1863 and 1870.2

     Edward Southwell Russell, 24th Lord de Clifford was born on 5 April 1855 at 3 Carlton House Terrace, London, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Edward Southwell Russell, 23rd Lord de Clifford and Harriet Agnes Elliot.1 He married Hilda Balfour, daughter of Charles Balfour, on 16 April 1879 at Easthampstead, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He died on 6 April 1894 at age 39 at San Remo, ItalyG, from consumption.2,3 He was buried at Cancade Cemetery, Nice, FranceG.2
     He was educated between 1869 and 1872 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He succeeded as the 24th Lord de Clifford [E., 1299] on 6 August 1877.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Leicestershire.4
