Captain William George Middleton was born on 16 April 1846 at Barony, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.2 He married Charlotte Baird, daughter of William Baird and Janet Johnstone, on 25 October 1882 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England. He died on 9 April 1892 at age 45 at Lord Willoughy de Broke's estate, Kineton, Warwickshire, England, killed in a fall from his horse during the Midland Sportsman's Cup.2
Captain William George Middleton also went by the nick-name of Bay.2 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, John Poyntz Spencer, 5th Earl Spencer in 1870.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1870 in the service of the 12th Lancers.2 He and Lady Henrietta Blanche Ogilvy were associated between 1884 and 1885.2 He lived at Haselbech Hall, Haselbech, Northamptonshire, England.2,1
He was a distinguished steeple chase rider, as well as cricketer.2
