     Arthur Robert Pyers Southwell, 5th Viscount Southwell of Castle Mattress was born on 16 November 1872.1 He was the son of Thomas Arthur Joseph Southwell, 4th Viscount Southwell of Castle Mattress and Charlotte Mary Barbara Mostyn.1 He married Hon. Dorothy Katharine Walrond, daughter of William Hood Walrond, 1st Baron Waleran and Elizabeth Katharine Pitman, on 28 October 1897.1 He died on 5 October 1944 at age 71.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Southwell of Castle Mattress, co. Limerick [I., 1776] on 26 April 1878.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Southwell, of Castle Mattress, co. Limerick [I., 1662] on 26 April 1878.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Southwell of Castle Mattress, co. Limerick [I., 1717] on 26 April 1878.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Engineers.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Shropshire Yeomanry.1 He gained the rank of Acting Lieutenant-Colonel in the Battalion, Machine Gun Corps.1

Dorothy Katharine Walrond was the daughter of William Hood Walrond, 1st Baron Waleran and Elizabeth Katharine Pitman.1 She married Arthur Robert Pyers Southwell, 5th Viscount Southwell of Castle Mattress, son of Thomas Arthur Joseph Southwell, 4th Viscount Southwell of Castle Mattress and Charlotte Mary Barbara Mostyn, on 28 October 1897.1 She died on 18 September 1952.1
     After her marriage, Hon. Dorothy Katharine Walrond was styled as Viscountess Southwell of Castle Mattress on 28 October 1897. From 28 October 1897, her married name became Southwell.

     William Hood Walrond, 1st Baron Waleran was born on 26 February 1849.1 He was the son of Sir John Walrond Walrond, 1st Bt. and Hon. Frances Caroline Hood.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Katharine Pitman, daughter of James Samuel Pitman and Elizabeth Cole, on 11 April 1871.1 He married, secondly, Helena Margaret Morrison, daughter of F. Morrison, on 28 October 1913.1 He died on 17 May 1925 at age 76.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Devon between 1880 and 1885.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Devon, North-East Division between 1885 and 1905.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Walrond, of Bradfield, Devon [U.K., 1876] on 23 April 1889.1 He held the office of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1902 and 1905.3 He was created 1st Baron Waleran, of Uffculme, co. Devon [U.K.] on 23 December 1905.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)3

     Elizabeth Katharine Pitman was born in 1851 at Dunchideock, Devon, England.2 She was the daughter of James Samuel Pitman and Elizabeth Cole.3,4 She married William Hood Walrond, 1st Baron Waleran, son of Sir John Walrond Walrond, 1st Bt. and Hon. Frances Caroline Hood, on 11 April 1871.1 She died on 11 October 1911.1
     From 11 April 1871, her married name became Walrond. After her marriage, Elizabeth Katharine Pitman was styled as Baroness Waleran on 23 December 1905.
