     Major John Vivien Bailey was the son of Brig.-Gen. Vivien Telford Bailey.1 He married Evelyn Diana Noel, daughter of Lt.-Col. Francis Arthur Gerard Noel and Evelyn Bond-Cabbell, on 7 November 1936.1 He died in July 1943, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Scots Fusiliers.1 He fought in the Second World War.1

     He was decorated with the award of the Territorial Decoration (T.D.).1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment.1 He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1
