     William Lauder was the son of William Lauder and Catherine Broun.1 He married Janet McLellan, daughter of Robert McLellan of Summerhall, on 22 April 1733 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He died circa 1771 at Barbados.1
     He was a teacher of humanities at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He wrote the book Poetarum Scotorum Musae Sacrae, published 1739.1
