     Veronica Lyle, Baroness Linklater of Butterstone was born on 15 April 1943.2 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Archibald Michael Lyle and Hon. Elizabeth Sinclair. She married Magnus Duncan Linklater, son of Major Eric Robert Linklater and Marjorie MacIntyre, on 21 January 1967.2 She died on 15 December 2022 at age 79.3
     She was educated at Cranborne Chase School, Dorset, EnglandG.2 She graduated from London University, London, EnglandG, with a Diploma of Sociology.2 She was a child care officer between 1967 and 1978 at Tower Hamlets, London, EnglandG.2 From 21 January 1967, her married name became Linklater.1 She was co-founder of the Vistor's Centre between 1971 and 1977 at Pentonville Prison, EnglandG.2 She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Inner London between 1985 and 1988.2 She was created Baroness Linklater of Butterstone, of Riemore in Perth and Kinross [U.K. Life Peer] on 1 November 1997.1 She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of the University (D.U.) by Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, in 2001.2 She lived in 2003 at 5 Drummond Place, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.2
