     Sir Thomas Clark, 1st Bt. was born on 5 September 1823.1 He was the son of John Clark and Margaret Lothian.2 He married Eliza Maule Davidson, daughter of Reverend George Ramsay Davidson, on 13 June 1851.1 He died on 24 December 1900 at age 77.3
     He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society of Edinburgh (F.R.S.E.).1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Edinburgh.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of the City and County of Edinburgh.1 He held the office of Lord Provost between 1885 and 1888.1 He was created 1st Baronet Clark, of Melville Crescent, Edinburgh [U.K.] on 28 September 1886.1
