     Lt.-Col. William Collis Spring was born in 1769.1 He was the son of Captain John Spring and Mary Blennerhassett Collis.1,2 He married, firstly, Anne Carter, daughter of Joseph Chilton Carter.1 He died on 14 August 1825 at Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland.3
     He gained the rank of Ensign in the 48th (Northamptonshire) Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1793.1 He fought in the Battle of Albuera on 16 May 1811.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 4 June 1813.1 He was Commanding Officer of the 1st Battaion, 57th Foot in 1815.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Kerry.2

     He was educated at Peterhouse College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1
