     He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Curate at Hesildon, England.1

     Christopher Furness, 1st Baron Furness was born on 23 April 1852.1 He was the son of John Furness and Averill Eastor Wilson.1,2 He married Jane Annette Suggitt, daughter of Henry Suggitt, on 16 May 1876.1 He died on 10 November 1912 at age 60.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hartlepool between 1891 and 1895.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1895.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Durham.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) for County Durham.1 He was head of the Furness Line of Steamers.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hartlepool between 1900 and 1910.1 He was created 1st Baron Furness, of Grantley, West Riding, co.
