Major Anthony Buxton was born on 2 September 1881.1 He was the son of Edward North Buxton and Emily Digby.2 He married Mary Philomena Constable-Maxwell, daughter of Hon. Bernard Constable-Maxwell and Alice Mary Charlotte Fraser, on 9 February 1926.1 He died in 1970.1
Major Anthony Buxton was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1904 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex in 1913.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Essex Yeomanry.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and wounded.1 He was Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) in 1920.1 He was invested as a Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.).1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Norfolk in 1934.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1945.1
