     Ian Alistair Seymour Monro was born on 14 April 1897 at St. Pierre Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands.1 He was the son of Brig.-Gen. Seymour Charles Hale Monro and Lady Ida Constance Vaughan.1 He married Marion Frances Ewart, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir John Spencer Ewart of Craigcleuch and Susan Frances Platt, on 23 April 1919 at St. Paul's Church, Knightsbridge, London, England.1 He died in 1943.
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.2

     From 29 December 1860, her married name became Stapleton.
