     Anthony Neil Wedgwood Benn was born on 3 April 1925.1 He was the son of William Wedgwood Benn, 1st Viscount Stansgate and Margaret Eadie Holmes.2 He married Caroline Middleton de Camp, daughter of James Milton de Camp, on 17 June 1949.1 He died on 14 March 2014 at age 88.3
     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.1 He gained the rank of Pilot Officer in 1943 in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant (A) in 1943 in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He held the office of President of Oxford Union in 1947.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was Talks Producer with the BBC Overseas Service between 1949 and 1950.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Labour) for Bristol South-East between November 1950 and November 1960, when he was disqualified from the House of Commons.1 In 1955 he petitioned Parliament unsuccessfully for the right to renounce a Viscountancy.1 He wrote the book The Privy Council as a Second Chamber, published 1957.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Stansgate, of Stansgate, co.
