Sir William George Herbert Taylor Ramsay-Fairfax, 2nd Bt. was born on 15 March 1831.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Fairfax, 1st Bt. and Archibald Montgomerie Williamson.2 He married Mary Ann Pawson Hargrave Pawson, daughter of William John Pawson, on 17 September 1868.1 He died on 19 January 1902 at age 70.1
He was given the name of William George Herbert Taylor Fairfax at birth.1 He fought in the Crimean War.1 He fought in the Siege of Sevastopol, he received a medal and clasp and Turkish medal.1 He gained the rank of Colonel.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Ramsay-Fairfax-Lucy, of the Holmes, co. Roxburgh [U.K., 1836] on 3 February 1860.1 In 1876 his name was legally changed to William George Herbert Taylor Ramsay-Fairfax on inheriting the estate of his aunt, Miss Williamson-Ramsay of Maxton.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Roxburghshire.1
