     Captain Robert Athole Hay was born on 12 December 1890.2 He is the son of Athole Stanhope Hay and Caroline Margaret Cunard.2 He married Margaret Heywood Jones, daughter of Richard Heywood Heywood Jones and Catherine Margaret Johnston, on 9 May 1914.2 He died on 22 May 1939 at age 48.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Lothian and Border Horse Yeomanry.2

     Caroline Margaret Hay was born on 29 June 1916.2 She was the daughter of Captain Robert Athole Hay and Margaret Heywood Jones.3,2 She married Henry Alexander Hepburne-Scott, 10th Lord Polwarth, son of Walter Thomas Hepburne-Scott, Master of Polwarth and Elspeth Glencairn Campbell, on 4 June 1943.1 She and Henry Alexander Hepburne-Scott, 10th Lord Polwarth were divorced in 1969.1 She died in 1982.1
     From 4 June 1943, her married name became Hepburne-Scott.1
