     Stephen William Agnew was born on 31 July 1921.1 He was the son of Sir John Stuart Agnew, 3rd Bt. and Kathleen White.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Close, daughter of James Brooks Close, on 28 June 1947.1 He and Elizabeth Close were divorced in 1966.1 He married, secondly, Adene Leona Brady, daughter of Vincent John Brady, in August 1967.2 He died on 1 December 2001 at age 80.3
     Stephen William Agnew was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 7th Hussars.1 He lived in 2001 at 4a Prince Alfred Parade, Newport, New South Wales, Australia.1
