     Lt.-Col. Robert Hoyer Millar was born on 5 July 1857.¹ He was the son of Christian Hoyer Millar and Marion Marshall Watson.² He married Alice Ann Combe Simson, daughter of Dr. James Simson and Margaret Combe, in 1886.¹ He died on 29 April 1942 at age 84.¹
