     Elizabeth Muriel Philippa Maclean was born on 10 June 1927.1 She is the daughter of Alexander John Hew Maclean, 16th of Ardgour and Hon. Muriel Annette Burns.1 She married Reverend Adam Ronald Rentoul Torrie on 27 October 1948.2
     Elizabeth Muriel Philippa Maclean graduated from St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).3 From 27 October 1948, her married name became Torrie.2
