     Lt.-Col. Robert Gerald Dillon Hare was born on 11 December 1910.1 He was the son of Brig.-Gen. Robert William Hare and Helen Mary Atkinson.2 He married Evelyn Nora Pratt, daughter of Thomas Pratt, on 27 March 1951.1 He died on 14 October 1997 at age 86.1
     He was educated at Gresham's School, Holt, Norfolk, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor and Commander-in-Chief Gibraltar between 1937 and 1939.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Royal Norfolk Regiment.1
