     Lady Katharine Sydney was the daughter of Robert Sydney, 1st Earl of Leicester and Barbara Gamage.2 She married Sir Lewis Mansel, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Thomas Mansel, 1st Bt. and Mary Mordaunt, after 1603.1 She died, without issue.1
     From after 1603, her married name became Mansel.

     Sir Edward Mansel, 4th Bt. succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Mansel [E., 1611] circa 1640.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Glamorgan in 1660.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Glamorgan between 1670 and 1679.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Glamorgan in 1681.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Glamorgan between 1685 and 1697.3 He held the office of Sheriff of Glamorgan in 1688, but he refused to undertake the duties of that office.3

     Sir Thomas Mansell, 1st Baron Mansell of Margam was born circa 1668.1 He was the son of Sir Edward Mansel, 4th Bt. and Martha Carne.2 He married Martha Millington, daughter of Martha Millington, on 18 May 1686.1 He died on 10 December 1723.1
     Sir Thomas Mansell, 1st Baron Mansell of Margam graduated from Jesus College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1686 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Cardiff between 1689 and 1698.1 He graduated from Jesus College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1699 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Glamorgan between 1699 and 1712.3 He held the office of Sheriff of Glamorgan in 1700/1.3 He held the office of Vice-Admiral of South Wales in 1704.3 He held the office of Comptrollerof the Household to Queen Anne between 1704 and 1708.3 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) between 1704 and 1708.1 He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Mansel [E., 1611] on 17 November 1706.1 He held the office of a Commissioner of Treasury from 1710 to 1711.3 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) between 1711 and 1714.1 He was Comptrollerof the Household to Queen Anne from 1711 to 1712.3 He was created 1st Baron Mansell of Margam [Great Britain] on 1 January 1711/12, one of eight peers created that day to give the Tory administration a majority in the House of Lords.3 He held the office of Governor of Milford Haven from 1713 to 1714.3 He lived at Penrice, Oxwich, Gower, Wales.1 He lived at Margam, Glamorgan, Wales.3 He had three other daughters.3
