Janet Hyndford Elliot1

     Janet Hyndford Elliot was the daughter of Cornelius Elliot of Woolflee.2 She married, firstly, Sir John Gibson-Carmichael of Skirling, 6th Bt., son of Alexander Gibson and Margaret Bruce Dundas, on 15 October 1799.2 She married, secondly, Lt.-Gen. John Elphinstone, 12th Lord Elphinstone, son of John Elphinstone, 11th Lord Elphinstone and Anne Ruthven, on 31 July 1806.1 She died on 23 August 1825.1
     From 15 October 1799, her married name became Gibson-Carmichael.1 From 31 July 1806, her married name became Elphinstone.

John Elphinstone, 13th Lord Elphinstone1

     John Elphinstone, 13th Lord Elphinstone was born on 23 June 1807.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. John Elphinstone, 12th Lord Elphinstone and Janet Hyndford Elliot.2 He died on 19 July 1860 at age 53, unmarried.1
     He succeeded as the 13th Lord Elphinstone [S., 1510] on 2 May 1813.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Horse Guards (Blues.)1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1832 and 1834.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1836.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Hanoverian Order (G.C.H.) in 1836.1 He held the office of Governor of Madras and Bombay in 1847, during the Indian Mutiny.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1847 and 1859.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1859.1 He was created 1st Baron Elphinstone, of Elphinstone, co. Stirling [U.K.] on 21 May 1859.1 On his death, his U.K. barony became extinct.1

     Mary Keith Elphinstone-Fleeming was the daughter of Admiral Hon. Charles Elphinstone-Fleeming and Doña Catalina Paulina Alesandro de Jiminez.2 She married, firstly, Alexander Macalister of Torrisdale on 20 April 1843.1 She and Alexander Macalister of Torrisdale were divorced in 1847.1 She married, secondly, Morgan Lloyd in 1848.1 She died on 11 March 1859.1
     From 20 April 1843, her married name became Macalister. From 1848, her married name became Lloyd.1
