     Cecily Francis Giles was born in August 1861 at Somerset, England.1 She was the daughter of Major James Giles and Isabella Gaye.1 She was baptised on 19 August 1861 at Minehead, Somerset, England.1 She married Colonel William James Clarke.1 She died on 6 December 1943 at age 82 at Durban, Natal, South Africa.1
     Her married name became Clarke.1

     Elizabeth Dryden was born on 18 July 1753.3 She was the daughter of Bevill Dryden and Mary Dubber.2 She married, firstly, Sir John Dryden, 1st Bt., son of Sir Edward Turner, 2nd Bt. and Cassandra Leigh, on 14 May 1781.1 She married, secondly, Godfrey Scholey after 1797.4 She died on 5 November 1824 at age 71.3
     From 14 May 1781, her married name became Turner. On 16 December 1791 her name was legally changed to Dryden.1 From after 1797, her married name became Scholey.4

     Colonel William James Clarke was born on 16 January 1860 at Worth, Sussex, England.1 He married Cecily Francis Giles, daughter of Major James Giles and Isabella Gaye.1 He died on 11 May 1936 at age 76 at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa.1
     Colonel William James Clarke fought in the Battle of Isandhlawana in 1878.2 He was with the Natal Mounted Police between March 1878 and 1905.2 He fought in the Siege of Ladysmith.2 He held the office of Chief Commissioner of the Natal Mounted Police between 1905 and 1913.2 He was Officer-in-Charge of the 2nd South Africa Mounted Rifles Battalion between 1913 and 1917.2 He fought in the First World War, in South West Africa, and was mentioned in despatches.2 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.).1 Between 1918 and 1919 he was involved in an MI5 mission to Russia to rescue the Romanovs.2 He was decorated with the award of Order of St. Stanislaus of Russia.1
