Lt.-Col. John Hardiman Burke1

     Lt.-Col. John Hardiman Burke was the son of James Hardiman Burke and Anne O'Hara.2 He died on 9 August 1863, from an illness contracted during the Crimean War.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Buffs.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 88th Connaught Rangers.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to General Sir John Burgoyne in Crimea.1 He fought in the Crimean War.1 He lived at St. Clerans, County Galway, IrelandG.1

Robert O'Hara Burke1

     Robert O'Hara Burke was born in 1821.1 He was the son of James Hardiman Burke and Anne O'Hara.2 He died in 1861 at AustraliaG, perished on his expedition.1
     He gained the rank of Officer in the Austrian Imperial Service.1 He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Geographical Society.1 In 1861 he was distinguished for his command of the Burke-Wills Expedition across Australia.1
