Maurice O'Connell was born in 1728.3 He was the son of Daniel O'Connell and Maire Ni Dhuibh O'Donoghue.2 He married Mary Cantillon, daughter of Robert Cantillon, on 5 December 1758.3 He died in February 1825, without issue.3
Maurice O'Connell also went by the nick-name of ‘Old Hunting Cap'.1 He was Deputy Governor of Kerry in 1793.3 He lived at Derrynane, Ireland.3 He lived in 1824 at Darrynane Abbey, County Kerry, Ireland.1 In 1825 he educated his nephew Daniel at his own expense and eventually bequeathed him his estate, worth £1,000 p.a.1

Lt.-Gen. Daniel Charles O'Connell was born the 21st child of his parents on 21 May 1745.4 He was the son of Daniel O'Connell and Maire Ni Dhuibh O'Donoghue.2,3 He married Martha Gourand Drouillard de Lamarre in 1796.1 He died on 9 July 1833 at age 88, without issue.1
Lt.-Gen. Daniel Charles O'Connell gained the rank of Cadet in 1760 in the service of the Royal Suédois Infantry Regiment, French Army.1 He was Assistant Adjutant circa 1763.1 He gained the rank of Adjutant circa 1764 in the service of the Clare Regiment, Irish Brigade.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1769 in the service of the Clare's (afterwards Berwick's) Regiment in the Irish Brigade.4 He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Salm-Salm German Regiment, French Army.1 Before 1778 he served in Europe and Mauritius.4 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1778 in the service of the Royal Swedois.4 He was Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Salm-Salm.4 He was created Comte O'Connell [France] in 1783, by King Louis XVI.1 He fought in the Siege of Gibraltar, where he was severely wounded.4 He returned to England after the French Revolution.4 He fought in the Siege of Port Mahan.4 He gained the rank of Private in 1792 in the service of the Berchini's Hussars, fighting with French émigrés.1 He gained the rank of Colonel circa 1794 in the service of the 4th Regiment, Irish Brigade, British Army.1 He was decorated with the award of Chevalier, Order of St. Louis.4 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General circa 1816 in the service of the French Army.1
