     Richard Ogilvy Heriot-Maitland was born on 20 January 1913.1 He was the son of Brig.-Gen. James Dalgleish Heriot-Maitland and Mary Turner Scrymgeour-Wedderburn.2 He married Patricia Bevis, daughter of Lt.-Col. Cecil Bevis, on 3 July 1935.1 He died in 1972.1
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Black Watch (Territorial Army.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Perthshire in 1940.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to the General Officer Commander-in-Chief of the Scottish Command in 1944.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Commander-in-Chief Norway in 1945.1 He was awarded the King Haakon VII of Norway Liberty Medal.1
He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Perthshire in 1963.1

     From 3 July 1935, her married name became Heriot-Maitland.1
