Major Robert Smyth was born on 19 February 1885.2 He was the son of Colonel James Smyth.1 He married, firstly, Mabel Anne Georgiana MacGeough Bond, daughter of Lt.-Col. Ralph Francis Xavier MacGeough Bond and Georgiana Sidney Bond, on 25 April 1923.1 He and Mabel Anne Georgiana MacGeough Bond were divorced in 1935.1 He married, secondly, Cicely Mildred O'Carroll Darby, daughter of Jonathan Charles Darby, on 19 November 1935.2 He died on 2 January 1952 at age 66.1
