     Alexander Ernest Burchardt-Ashton was born on 28 October 1888 at Mani, Hawaii, U.S.A..1 He was the son of Arthur Godfrey Burchardt Ashton and Rosamund Augusta Rathbone.1 He married Averina Mary Constance Humphreys, daughter of William Daniel Humphreys and Averina Purden Bevan Brasier-Creagh, in January 1914.1,2 He died on 11 July 1916 at age 27, killed in action.1 He was buried at La Laiterie Cemetery, Heuvelland, Belgium.1
