Philadelphia Rowley was born circa 1763.2 She was the daughter of Rear-Admiral Sir Joshua Rowley, 1st Bt. and Sarah Burton.3 She married Admiral Sir Charles Cotton, 5th Bt., son of Sir John Hinde Cotton, 4th Bt. and Anne Parsons, on 27 February 1798.1 She died on 5 April 1855 at Madingley Hall, Cambridgeshire, England.1,2 Her will was probated in July 1855.2

Admiral Sir Charles Cotton, 5th Bt. was born in 1758.2 He was the son of Sir John Hinde Cotton, 4th Bt. and Anne Parsons.3 He married Philadelphia Rowley, daughter of Rear-Admiral Sir Joshua Rowley, 1st Bt. and Sarah Burton, on 27 February 1798.1 He died on 24 February 1812 at Stoke, Plymouth, Devon, England.4,2
He gained the rank of Post Captain in 1779 in the service of the Royal Navy.2 He fought in the The Glorious First on 1 June 1794, in command of H.M.S Majestic.2 He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Cotton, of Landwade, co. Cambridge [E., 1641] on 23 January 1795.3 He gained the rank of Admiral in 1808.2 He was Commander in Chief of the the Channel Fleet.2
