     Alexander Edward Murray, 8th Earl of Dunmore, V.C. was born on 22 April 1871.¹ He was the son of Charles Adolphus Murray, 7th Earl of Dunmore and Lady Gertrude Coke.¹ He married Dorothea Kemble, daughter of Colonel Horace William Kemble, on 5 January 1904.¹ He died on 29 January 1962 at age 90.¹
     Alexander Edward Murray, 8th Earl of Dunmore, V.C. gained the rank of Major in the service of the 16th Lancers.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to the Viceroy of India between 1895 and 1897.¹ He fought in the Sudan Campaign in 1896.¹ He was decorated with the award of Victoria Cross (V.C.) in 1897.¹ He fought in the Malakand Expeditioon in 1897, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to Maj.-Gen. Sir H. C. Chermside in 1899.¹ He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900.¹ He was invested as a Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.).¹ He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).¹ He was commanding officer of the 31st Battalion (Fincastle's Horse), Imperial Yeomanry in 1902 which he had raised.¹ He fought in the Boer War in 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He succeeded to the title of 8th Earl of Dunmore [S., 1686] on 27 August 1907.¹ He succeeded to the title of 4th Baron Dunmore, in the Forest of Atholl, co. Perth [U.K., 1831] on 27 August 1907.¹ He succeeded to the title of 8th Lord Murray of Blair, Moulin and Tillemot [S., 1686] on 27 August 1907.¹ He succeeded to the title of 8th Viscount of Fincastle [S., 1686] on 27 August 1907.¹ He fought in the First World War in 1914, where he was mentioned in despatches four times.¹ He was decorated with the award of 1914 Star in 1914.¹ He held the office of Captain of the Gentlemen-at-Arms between January 1924 and November 1924.¹ He held the office of Lord-in-Waiting between 1930 and 1936.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Inverness-shire.¹

     Dorothea Kemble was the daughter of Colonel Horace William Kemble.¹ She married Alexander Edward Murray, 8th Earl of Dunmore, V.C., son of Charles Adolphus Murray, 7th Earl of Dunmore and Lady Gertrude Coke, on 5 January 1904.¹ She died on 9 February 1966.¹
     Her married name became Murray. As a result of her marriage, Dorothea Kemble was styled as Countess of Dunmore on 27 August 1907.

     Edward David Murray, Viscount Fincastle was born on 3 April 1908.¹ He was the son of Alexander Edward Murray, 8th Earl of Dunmore, V.C. and Dorothea Kemble.^1,2 He married Hon. Pamela Kate Hermon-Hodge, daughter of Roland Herman Hermon-Hodge, 2nd Baron Wyfold and Dorothy Fleming, on 26 April 1938.³ He died in June 1940 at age 32 at France, killed in action.³
     Edward David Murray, Viscount Fincastle was styled as Viscount Fincastle.¹ He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 4th Battalion, Cameron Highlanders.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹

     Hon. Pamela Kate Hermon-Hodge was born on 27 November 1908.³ She was the daughter of Roland Herman Hermon-Hodge, 2nd Baron Wyfold and Dorothy Fleming.² She married, firstly, Edward David Murray, Viscount Fincastle, son of Alexander Edward Murray, 8th Earl of Dunmore, V.C. and Dorothea Kemble, on 26 April 1938.¹ She married, secondly, Captain Follett Watson Bell, son of Frederick Norman Bell, on 27 June 1944.¹ She died in 1978.¹
     From 26 April 1938, her married name became Murray. From 27 June 1944, her married name became Bell.

     Roland Herman Hermon-Hodge, 2nd Baron Wyfold was born on 10 July 1880.³ He was the son of Robert Trotter Hermon-Hodge, 1st Baron Wyfold and Frances Caroline Hermon.² He married Dorothy Fleming, daughter of Robert Fleming, on 26 June 1906.³ He died on 14 October 1942 at age 62.
     Roland Herman Hermon-Hodge, 2nd Baron Wyfold gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Grenadier Guards.³ He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.³ He fought in the First World War.³ He gained the rank of Major and Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Reserve of Officers.¹ He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).³ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Oxfordshire.³ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxfordshire.³ He was invested as a Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.).³ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Wyfold, of Accrington, co. Palatine of Lancaster [U.K., 1919] on 3 June 1937.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Hodge [U.K., 1902] on 3 June 1937.¹

     Captain Follett Watson Bell was the son of Frederick Norman Bell.² He married Hon. Pamela Kate Hermon-Hodge, daughter of Roland Herman Hermon-Hodge, 2nd Baron Wyfold and Dorothy Fleming, on 27 June 1944.² He died on 2 October 1982.²
     Captain Follett Watson Bell gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Artillery.²

     Dorothy Fleming is the daughter of Robert Fleming.² She married Roland Herman Hermon-Hodge, 2nd Baron Wyfold, son of Robert Trotter Hermon-Hodge, 1st Baron Wyfold and Frances Caroline Hermon, on 26 June 1906.³ She died on 7 August 1976.³
     Her married name became Hermon-Hodge.
