     Major Mervyn Edward Archdale was born on 22 December 1855.¹ He was the son of Captain Audley Mervyn Archdale and Sybilla Mary Miles.¹ He married, firstly, Minna Archer, daughter of Fulbert Archer and Mary Elizabeth Cave, on 12 April 1887.¹ He married, secondly, Bertha Louisa Collins, daughter of John Collins, in 1908.¹ He married, thirdly, Kate Lavinia Bradfield in 1923.¹ He died on 9 September 1928 at age 72.¹

     Lt.-Col. Fulbert Audley Archdale was born on 8 August 1890.¹ He was the son of Major Mervyn Edward Archdale and Minna Archer.¹ He married Muriel Kathleen Lyon, daughter of Lt.-Col. John Wilmot Harley Lyon and Constance Mary (?), on 10 March 1920.¹ He died on 16 July 1953 at age 62.¹
     He entered the military in 1906, in the service of the HMS Worcester.¹ He was an apprentice aboard the barque Inverlyon, which circumnavigated thrice by sail.¹ He joined the Hoogli Pilot Service in 1911 at Calcutta, India^G.¹ He fought in the First World War with the 130th Baluchis, mentioned in despatches.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Pioneer Corps.¹ He was Commander of the Karachi Corps Auxillary Force between 1924 and 1929.¹ He was assigned to Movement Control in 1939.¹ He fought in the Second World War, with the Pioneer Corps.¹ He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)¹
