     He was a merchant at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.1

     Sir Daniel Cooper, 1st Bt. was born on 1 July 1821.1 He was the son of Thomas Cooper and Jane Ramsden.2 He married Elizabeth Hill, daughter of William Hill, on 3 September 1846.1 He died on 5 June 1902 at age 80.1
     He held the office of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly [New South Wales] between 1856 and 1860.1 He was invested as a Knight in 1857.1 He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.).1 He was created 1st Baronet Cooper, of Woollahra, New South Wales [U.K.] on 26 January 1863.1
