Sir Martin Alexander Lindsay, 1st Bt. was born on 22 August 1905. He is the son of Lt.-Col. A. B. Lindsay.1 He married, firstly, Joyce Emily Lindsay, daughter of Major Hon. Robert Hamilton Lindsay and Mary Janet Clarke, on 15 December 1932.1 He and Joyce Emily Lindsay were divorced in 1967.1 He married, secondly, Hon. Loelia Mary Ponsonby, daughter of Frederick Edward Grey Ponsonby, 1st Baron Sysonby and Victoria Lily Hegan Kennard, in 1969. He died in 1981.
Sir Martin Alexander Lindsay, 1st Bt. gained the title of 1st Baronet Lindsay. He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.).1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1
