     Lt.-Col. Sir John Ramsay was born on 5 December 1862.1 He was the son of General Hon. Sir Henry Ramsay and Laura Lushington.1 He married Margaret Henvey, daughter of Frederick Henvey, on 9 March 1889.1 He died on 2 March 1942 at age 79.1
     Lt.-Col. Sir John Ramsay gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Indian Army.1 He was Political Resident of Baghdad between 1906 and 1909.1 He was Political Resident of Kashmir between 1909 and 1911.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.) in 1911.1 He was Chief Commissioner and Agent to the Governor-General of Baluchistan between 1911 and 1917.1 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E.) in 1915.1
