     John de Clinton, 5th Lord Clinton was born in 1410.1 He was the son of William de Clinton, 4th Lord Clinton and Alice de Botreaux.2 He married, secondly, Margaret St. Leger, daughter of Sir John St. Leger and Margaret Donet.1 He married, firstly, Joan Ferrers, daughter of Edmund Ferrers, 6th Lord Ferrers (of Chartley) and Ellen Roche, circa 29 October 1431.3 He died on 24 September 1464.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Lord Clinton [E., 1299] circa August 1431.1 Circa 1438 he exchanged the Lordship of Maxstoke with the 6th Earl of Stafford, for the Lordships of Whiston and Woodford, Northamptonshire.1 In 1441 he was taken prisoner when serving in France and was held for more than six years until ransomed for 6,000 marks.1 On 1 November 1448 he relinquished all claims to the Barony of Saye in favour of Sir James Fiennes.1 In 1459 he was attainted for his Yorkist sympathies but was restored in 1461.1

     John Clinton, 6th Lord Clinton was born circa 1429.1 He was the son of John de Clinton, 5th Lord Clinton and Joan Ferrers.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Fiennes, daughter of Sir Richard Fiennes and Joan Dacre, Baroness Dacre.1 He married, secondly, Anne Stafford, daughter of Sir Humphrey Stafford.1 He died on 29 February 1487/88.1 He was buried at Grey Friars, London, EnglandG.3
     He succeeded as the 6th Lord Clinton [E., 1299] on 24 September 1464.1 In 1471 he was apparently recognised as Lord Clinton and Say but never called to Parliament under either title.1
