     Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton was born on 29 September 1812.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Archibald Montgomerie, Lord Montgomerie and Lady Mary Montgomerie.1 He married, firstly, Theresa Newcomen, daughter of Thomas Gleadowe-Newcomen, 2nd Viscount Newcomen and Harriet Holland, on 17 February 1841.1 He married, secondly, Lady Adela Caroline Harriett Capel, daughter of Arthur Algernon Capell, 6th Earl of Essex and Lady Caroline Janetta Beauclerk, on 3 November 1858.1 He died on 4 October 1861 at age 49.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Ardrossan, of Ardrossan, co. Ayr [U.K., 1806] on 14 December 1819.1 He succeeded as the 14th Lord Montgomerie [S., 1445] on 14 December 1819.1 He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Eglinton [S., 1507] on 14 December 1819.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire between 1842 and 1859.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D.)1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.)1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1852.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland between 27 February 1852 and January 1853.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) in 1853.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland between 1858 and 1859.1 He succeeded as the 1st Earl of Winton [U.K.] on 17 June 1859.1

     Theresa Newcomen was born illegitimately in 1809.1,2 She was the daughter of Thomas Gleadowe-Newcomen, 2nd Viscount Newcomen and Harriet Holland.1 She married, firstly, Commander Richard Howe Cockerell, son of Samuel Pepys Cockerell and Anne Whetham, before 1836.1 She married, secondly, Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton, son of Maj.-Gen. Archibald Montgomerie, Lord Montgomerie and Lady Mary Montgomerie, on 17 February 1841.1 She died on 16 December 1853.1
     Her married name became Howe-Cockerell.1 From 17 February 1841, her married name became Montgomerie. After her marriage, Theresa Newcomen was styled as Countess of Eglinton on 17 February 1841.

Commander Richard Howe Cockerell1

     Commander Richard Howe Cockerell was the son of Samuel Pepys Cockerell and Anne Whetham.2 He married Theresa Newcomen, daughter of Thomas Gleadowe-Newcomen, 2nd Viscount Newcomen and Harriet Holland, before 1836.3 He died before 1841.3
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.3 Commander.3

     Archibald William Montgomerie, 14th Earl of Eglinton was born on 3 December 1841.1 He was the son of Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton and Theresa Newcomen.1 He married Lady Sophia Adelaide Theodosia Anderson-Pelham, daughter of Charles Anderson Worsley Anderson-Pelham, 2nd Earl of Yarborough and Hon. Maria Adelaide Maude, on 6 December 1862.1 He died on 30 August 1892 at age 50.1
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lanarkshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Ayrshire.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Ardrossan, of Ardrossan, co. Ayr [U.K., 1806] on 4 October 1861.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Winton [U.K., 1859] on 4 October 1861.2 He succeeded as the 14th Earl of Eglinton [S., 1507] on 4 October 1861.1 He succeeded as the 15th Lord Montgomerie [S., 1445] on 4 October 1861.1

     George Arnulph Montgomerie, 15th Earl of Eglinton was born on 23 February 1848.1 He was the son of Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton and Theresa Newcomen.1 He married Janet Lucretia Cuninghame, daughter of Boyd Alexander Cuninghame and Mary Wilkinson, on 13 November 1873.1 He died on 10 August 1919 at age 71.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire.1 He succeeded as the 16th Lord Montgomerie [S., 1445] on 30 August 1892.1 He succeeded as the 15th Earl of Eglinton [S., 1507] on 30 August 1892.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Winton [U.K., 1859] on 30 August 1892.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Ardrossan, of Ardrossan, co. Ayr [U.K., 1806] on 30 August 1892.1

     Hon. Seton Montolieu Montgomerie was born on 15 May 1846.1 He was the son of Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton and Theresa Newcomen.1 He married Nina Janet Bronwen Peers Williams, daughter of Lt.-Col. Thomas Peers Williams, on 11 June 1870.1 He died on 26 November 1883 at age 37.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Scots Fusilier Guards.1

     Lady Adela Caroline Harriett Capel was born on 4 March 1828.2 She was the daughter of Arthur Algernon Capell, 6th Earl of Essex and Lady Caroline Janetta Beauclerk.1,2 She married Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton, son of Maj.-Gen. Archibald Montgomerie, Lord Montgomerie and Lady Mary Montgomerie, on 3 November 1858.3 She died on 31 December 1860 at age 32.3
     After her marriage, Lady Adela Caroline Harriett Capel was styled as Countess of Eglinton on 3 November 1858. From 3 November 1858, her married name became Montgomerie. After her marriage, Lady Adela Caroline Harriett Capel was styled as Countess of Eglinton and Winton on 17 June 1859.

     Lady Egida Montgomerie was the daughter of Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton and Theresa Newcomen.1 She married Frederick William Brook Thellusson, 5th Baron Rendlesham of Rendlesham, son of Frederick Thellusson, 4th Baron Rendlesham of Rendlesham and Elizabeth Charlotte Prescott, on 4 July 1861.1 She died on 13 January 1880.1
     After her marriage, Lady Egida Montgomerie was styled as Baroness Rendlesham of Rendlesham on 4 July 1861. From 4 July 1861, her married name became Thellusson.
