Ellis Butler was born illegitimately.1 She is the daughter of Thomas Butler, 10th Earl of Ormonde.2 She married, firstly, Sir James 'Oge' Butler, son of Pierse 'Oge' Butler and Honora FitzPatrick, in 1572.1 She married, secondly, Sir Thomas Bourke after 1601.1
